Brixton War Memorial is a large monument that stands close to the centre of the south London suburb, in the shadow of the great St. Matthew’s Church. The memorial pays tribute to the many brave men of the area who went off to war to fight for the basic rights and freedoms that we take for granted today in Britain. Many of these men lost their lives and the people of the area recognise the great debt we owe them with this lasting reminder.
