Butler's Wharf Pier is used exclusively to provide access to luxury river cruises that leave from the area and take tourists up and down the historic River Thames. The companies provide a selection of large vessels including an imitation steam ship that one might expect to see on the Mississippi. The pier becomes busy in the early evening in the summer as people gather to begin dinner tours and watch the sun set on the river.
