This theatre in Covent Garden is quite modern compared to the other theatres in the West End. Designed by Wimperis, Simpson and Guthrie, it was completed in 1930. It was refurbished in 1950, with the original features being painted over. However, Carl Toms restored it to its original state in 1987. The building is Grade 2 listed, and is noted for its elegant design. The most notable production in recent times is Return to the Forbidden Planet, which ran for four years in the early 1990s.
