This fine statue of Charles I is one of the most recognised in London as it guards the entrance to Trafalgar Square from Whitehall and Parliament Square. It is seen by almost ever tourist as they pass by on foot or by bus, although most would not know who it was of. The statue was designed by Hubert Le Suer in 1675 and celebrates the king who lost the Civil War.
