Dr. Charles W. Williams procured the financing for the establishment of Christ Church from his sisters in 1867. He clearly liked to keep things in the family, his son succeeding him as first rector of the church. If you’re getting the 98 down Willesden Lane, this mock-mediaeval limestone construction with its impressive north tower and spire, is unmissable. Damaged by a landmine during World War II, it was restored in 1948. Since the 1980s, two thirds of the capacious interior have been given over to private accommodation.
