City Hall is home to the Mayor of London, the London Assembly and the Greater London Authority (GLA). This striking rounded glass building is situated on the south bank of the Thames near Tower Bridge. It was designed by Foster and Partners, one of Britain’s leading architects, whose design brief was to create a building for the Greater London Authority that would become a new landmark for the capital The GLA tool a 25 year lease on the building when it opened in 2002.
