The Coliseum Theatre was built in 1904, and is most famous for being the home of the English National Opera. It has been the home of the ENO since 1968, and it is one of London’s largest theatres with a capacity of nearly 2,400. The theatre was designed by Frank Matcham and is Italian Renaissance in style. To celebrate its centenary year, the theatre underwent a major four-year refurbishment that was completed in 2004. As well as the ENO, the Coliseum hosts touring companies such as the English National Ballet.
