The Crystal Palace Transmitter is the second tallest structure in London after 1 Canada Square in Docklands and because of its location on top of a hill can be seen from almost any point of height in the capital. It was constructed in 1950 and still remains the principle television transmitter for the London area and many of the surrounding counties. The iconic tower is an attraction of interest to all visitors to south London.
