The famous remains of a tree is located in the northern part of Hyde Park, very close to the mosaic memorial of the Reformers Tree. Locally known as Dead Man’s Tree, this once beautiful oak tree was struck by lightening on the 2nd June 1999. There is a plaque placed on the side of the tree to commemorate the date. Rumour has it that 50 years earlier a body was discovered by this tree but the body was never identified.
