Denmark Street is perhaps the best street for music and music related products in Europe, and is often referred to as London’s ‘Tin Pan Alley’. The associations with music date back as far as the 1890’s, when musicians flocked to the area to buy sheet music. However, it was in the 1960’s that Denmark Street really became world renowned, as the music studios started to open and artists such as the Rolling Stones and Hendrix recorded material here. The road is still home to various music shops and studios, many of which have been in the same place for the last forty years.
