Fulham Palace Road Cemetery is famous more for its architecture and sculpture than those that are buried there. Although primarily a burial ground, the cemetery has become a popular visitor attraction because of the wonderful nineteenth Century Gothic architecture that can be found within. At the gates is a large gothic crypt with wonderful attention to design detail and the use of buttresses and gargoyles. Many of the earlier graves in the cemetery feature statues as Fulham’s wealth allowed families to pay local artists to create magnificent commemorative tombs for their loved ones.
