George Meredith lived a great deal of his adult life in this beautiful townhouse at the heart of Chelsea in west London. Considered by may as one of the greatest authors and poets of his generation, he lit up the literary scene in 19th Century London. He was so highly valued by the establishment that he was asked to succeed Alfred Lord Tennyson as president of the Society of Authors.
