Born Eric Arthur Blair, George Orwell is one of the best-known political essayists and authors of the 20th Century. Best known for his magnificent novel’s ‘Animal Farm’ and ‘1984’, Orwell explored the nature of totalitarianism and the effects of government in society through breathtaking prose that has made him on of the most celebrated British authors ever. Many would argue that Orwell’s chilling vision of the future has become closer to fruition than even he might eve have dreamt. He lived a good deal of his life in this house.
