The GPO Film Unit had its headquarters in this fine old terraced building in the heart of Blackheath for many years during the 20th Century. The unit was originally a part of the Post Office and set up to make short documentaries and information films for the nations good. In 1940 during the Second World War the unit was taken under the control of the Ministry of Information and made some of the most famous propaganda films of the day.
