This Tuscan inspired bridge is one of the most famous river crossings in the capital. Built in 1824, the bridge has two large brick piers between which the bridge majestically hangs across the River Thames. The bridge connects Hammersmith with the leafy area of Barnes on the southern side of the river. The bridge is probably most famous for its position as a marker post in the university boat race between Oxford and Cambridge that takes place annually in early April.
