One of the greatest female comedy actors Britain has produced, Hattie Jacques spent her entire life living in this modest townhouse at the heart of vibrant Earls Court. Famed for her roles in the Carry On films and Hancock’s Half Hour, Jacques’ association with British comedy was long-lived and diverse. She spent much of her early life working in music halls before moving to radio, film and later television. She was married to Dads Army star John Le Mesurier and raised two children with him in this house before her untimely death in 1980.
