The Hayes War Memorial is a simple yet beautifully crafted monument that was put in place to honour the many men of the borough who went off to fight and never returned from the two world wars of the 20th Century. The people of the borough owe a great debt of gratitude to these brave men who gave their lives and made immense sacrifices to defend the basic freedoms that we now take for granted.
