Henry Mayhew love London and lived in this house close to the centre of the city for the majority of his adult life. He was one of the capitals greatest journalists and was a great advocate of reform. He is most noted for his foundation of the satirical magazine 'Punch' which is still running today. He was the original co-editor of the magazine alongside Jack Lemon. His influence in British journalism has been noted by many in the highest ranks of the profession.
