Herne Hill is home to Brockwell Park, now a public area and location of Brockwell Lido, but once the gardens of Brockwell Hall, which was built in 1831. Herne Hill Velodrome, built in 1891, was used for the 1948 Olympic Games. Herne Hill has two famous Grade II listed buildings: the Half Moon Pub and Carnegie Public Library.

  Herne Hill has improved greatly in recent years. Brockwell Park now has a new children’s paddling pool and the entrance has been improved. Additionally, the area outside the railway station has been pedestrianized. There are now lots of places to eat, including a tapas bar, a gastro-pub and some excellent cafés where you can now eat outside.
