The Horniman Museum is a large public museum located on the border between Forest Hill and Dulwich in south east London. The facility was commissioned in 1898 and opened to the public in 1901 after the architectural designs of Charles Harrison Townsend were followed. The museum was started by Victorian tea trader Frederick John Horniman who assembled a fine collection of natural history, antiquities and musical instruments that has been added to over the last century.
