Often known as the Charing Cross Railway Bridge, the Hungerford Bridge has undergone many transformations over the last 160 years. The original structure was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, as a footbridge, but was bought a few years later to extend the rail links into Charing Cross. The current footbridges on either side were part of a millennium project and were completed in 2002. Designed by Lifschutz Davidson and WSP, the bridges are named the Golden Jubilee Bridges and have won many design and architectural awards.
