The Imperial War Museum has been in its current home since 1936, when it was opened by the soon-to-be King George VI. It incorporates exhibits from all conflicts involving Britain from World War I until the present day. The displayed artefacts include everything from photographs to tanks and airplanes. The building that houses the collection is what used to be the Bethlem Royal Hospital, otherwise known as the infamous ‘Bedlam’. It was designed by James Lewis and opened in 1815, with the dome being added later on in 1846.
