John Constable is one of the most famous English painters ever to have lived. He spent a great deal of his life in Suffolk paining pastoral scenes many of which went on to make up his most famous works. However he also spent a deal of time living in London in the 'village within the city' which we call Hampstead. Constable loved the place and was inspired by its artistic energy and interesting residents.
