Educated at Eton, John Lubbock moved up to London in his early twenties to start a career in banking. He quickly became one of the brightest stars on the late 19th Century London circuit and began to diversify his interests. He quickly developed a career in politics and served some of the great leaders of his time before working as a naturalist and an archaeologist. His work took Lubbock around the world but he always considered this fine old house his home.
