Joseph Chamberlain was an influential British Statesman of the 19th Century who lived a good deal of his life in this fine town house on the edge of Highbury Fields in north London. Chamberlain is considered to have been one of the most important Liberal politicians of his day, making a strong alliance with the Conservatives in the early 20th Century. He was the father of Neville Chamberlain who went on to be British Prime Minister in the 1930s.
