Kentish Town was first documented in the 13th Century and was later classed as a hamlet in 1456, when a chapel was built. Until the 19th Century the River Fleet ran through Kentish Town. Notable residents include the politicians Patricia Hewitt and Tessa Jowell, actors Tom Conti, Roger Lloyd Pack and Bill Nighy and TV journalist Jon Snow.
