Having received its Royal Charter in 1829, King's College is the third oldest university institution in the country. The college is the largest of the constituent colleges of the University of London, but like all the others has always remained fiercely independent, keeping its own values, institutions and ways of teaching. The college is housed in a series of buildings along the Strand.
