Completed in 1908, this building was constructed as a result of an open design competition which 143 architects entered. The winning architects Warwick and Hall created a distinctive town hall with ample space to house the council of the rapidly growing borough of Lambeth. George V and Queen Mary opened the building. The unique clock tower casts a shadow over all of central Brixton and forms part of the areas fascinating skyline. The interior of the building is just as striking as the outside, housing stained glass windows, several grand staircases and a round hall.
