Lavender Pond Nature Reserve is a little of an oddity because of its position, surrounded by new residential housing projects and the remains of the great industrial age of steam in Britain. The reserve however has been protected by the local authority in order to allow the native wetland creatures and plants that have flourished on this fertile land for many hundreds of years a place to continue living. The area is open to the public and is a popular attraction amongst nature lovers.
