Little Ben is modelled on the clock tower of St. Stephen's commonly known as Big Ben at the other end of Victoria Street at the Houses of Parliament. It was given by a French company to the British people in 1892 as a sign of Franco-Anglo friendship. Although the piece has been removed on several occasions during the 20th Century it has largely remained as an interesting timepiece just a few yards from the entrance to Victoria Station.
