When the centre opened in 1998, the concept of interfaith exchanges was just starting to take off. LIFC now draws visitors from around the world to courses, seminars and conferences, all designed to reinforce understanding of religious diversity. While the Church of England runs the centre in conjunction with United Reformed Church, its visitors reflect the fact that Brent is one of most religiously diverse boroughs. Even secular belief is given air time here, so the director’s observation that the philosophy could perhaps best be described as “inter-ideological” is salient.
