Lord Palmerstone is one of the most famous British statesmen ever to have live, serving as Prime Minister on two occasions during his lifetime in parliament. He began his political career as a Tory and concluded it as a Liberal. He was a great reforming leader and can be thanked for much of what we call modern British politics. He lived a good deal of his adult life in this fantastic Piccadilly mansion.
