Lower Marsh combines a daily market with an array of interesting shops, bars and restaurants. The area is named Lower Marsh because it is built upon the site of the old Lambeth Marsh, which dates back in records as far as 1377. There has been a market in the area for over a century, and in 1984 the area was declared a conservation area due to its character and history. The street now encompasses a wide range of shops and stalls, ranging from fruit and vegetable sellers to vintage clothing and scooter shops.
