Radclyffe Hall was a well-known and controversial writer throughout her life in living in Kensington. ‘The Well of Loneliness’, her best-known work was banned shortly after its publication because it was thought that the subject matter about a relationship between a young girl and an older woman was unsuitable for readers. In modern times, Hall has been recognised as a fine author and is many of her works are celebrated.
