This railway station is Grade II listed. Built in 1866 at the peak of the railway boom, this is one of London's grandest suburban stations. It has fine decorative plasterwork, ornate stonework and a three-arched recessed entrance with stone columns. The station was designed by Charles Barry Jnr, the architect of Dulwich College, which is nearby. It was restored in 2004 but, unfortunately, its large chimneystacks and delicate traceried parapet were removed in the 1970s.
