The 2012 Olympic Stadium is the spectacular centrepiece of the magnificent Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park located near Stratford in East London. Being the venue for the track and field events of the 2012 Olympics, the stadium boasts a maximum 80,000 person capacity. The site used for the Olympic stadium used to be industrial land and so existing waterways surround the stadium, giving it the feel of being on an island. There are a number of nearby attractions to visit, including the Velodrome and Eton Manor.

The centrepiece of the 2012 Olympic Games is everything you expect it to be. It really is a theatre of dreams. I was lucky enough to get tickets to some of the track events during the Games and the atmosphere inside was truly out of this world. This stadium is a real legacy for London and British sports.
