The Church of La Salette and Saint Joseph is the second church in the area dedicated to La Salette, the first being the church of La Salette and Saint Patrick, which opened in 1848. This church had to be moved due to the expansion of the railway, and the current church was opened in 1861. The ‘Lady’ La Salette was believed to have been an apparition of the Virgin Mary, which stood before two children in the town of La Salette, France in 1846.
