The OXO tower was built on the site of a power station, and was finished in the late 1920’s, and is largely art deco in style. The tower was going to be built with illuminated lights in the OXO sign, but at the time advertising was illegal on the Thames, so the architect Albert Moore built in the ‘OXO’ in shaped glass. The tower is now used for a variety of purposes, including an art gallery and residential housing. There are also many retail design studios, and the rooftop houses the OXO tower restaurant.
