World famous artist Paul Nash began his creative career after being injured in the First World War and being sent home. He moved to this house in 1914 and lived there for much of his adult life until 1936. In this time Nash became one of the best-respected artists in Europe, working closely with the Royal College of Art. Although Nash experimented with surrealism and abstract art, he remained firmly committed to battlefield art and received many commissions from the Ministry of Information during the war years.
