Peckham, probably best known for being the location of Only Fools and Horses, was once a village. It appears in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Pecheham. Peckham was a wealthy residential area in the 16th Century. The award-winning Peckham Library was opened in October 2005. Rye Lane is the main shopping area and the attractive Peckham Rye Park is nearby.
