University College London’s Museum of Egyptology was founded in 1892 as an educational resource for the Department of Egyptian Archaeology and Philology. The creation of the museum was at the request of Amelia Edwards, writer of 'A Thousand Miles up the Nile', a record of her time in Egypt. The museum is home to an estimated 80,000 objects of Egyptian and Sudanese archaeology and philology. Highlights are two lions from the temple of Min at Koptos, and the largest architectural drawing, showing a shrine (about 1300 BC).
