The Prince Edward Theatre has undergone many changes since it first opened in 1930. It was designed by Edward Stone, and was used as a theatre up until 1936. Its name was then changed to The London Casino, which was noted for its lavish cabaret shows. Over the years the venue has also been used as a services club and a cinema. The building reverted back to being the Prince Edward Theatre in 1978, when an eight-year run of the musical Evita began. The theatre has hosted productions ever since, and was extensively restored in 1992.
