Putney Common is a large and wild green area close to Putney and Barnes in south west London. The area has been a popular retreat from city life for locals for centuries. Some areas of the common are used for organised sports activities, but much has been left fallow and is ideal for those wishing to take a walk in beautiful surroundings. The area has a good deal of rare wildlife and plantlife and has long been popular with ramblers and birwatchers.
