The Ragged School Museum was begun to chart the fascinating history of the east end of London and in particular the Copperfield Road area and the old school in which the museum is now housed. The museum opened in 1990 and before that the buildings were used by Dr Barnado for his ragged school which housed some of the poorest an most needy children in east London, giving them an education and a training in skills.
