This 400-acre Royal Park was known as "the jewel in the crown" ans was part of the vast chase belonging to Henry VII. The park as we know it today was opened in 1811, designed by architect John Nash. It includes a boating lake, bandstand and the Rose Garden Cafe and is the largest outdoor sports area in London with facilities for golg, cricket, tennis among other activities. The gardens contain more than 400 varieties of roses and a diverse wildlife such as waterfowl, hedgehogs and bats.

I find it quite surprising to learn that Regents Park was only opened to the public in 1845 centuries after King Henry VIII had it as a Royals only hunting ground. Today everyone can enjoy this central park with its wide open spaces, lakes refreshments and sensory gardens. It is also surprising just how quickly the sounds of Central London traffic dies away to virtually nothing when you venture into the park.
