The scale of the Royal Artillery Barracks has been compared to St Petersburg. At over 1000 feet in length, its main building has the longest façade of any in Britain. Home to the Royal Artillery, the barracks also has the largest parade ground in Britain. It was built between 1776 and 1802. Today, soldiers are still billeted here and in 2012 the Barracks will host the shooting events for the London Olympics.
