Rudyard Kipling lived in this fine old house close to the River Thames for many years after returning from the Raj. Kipling is recognised as one of the 19th and 20th centuries greatest storytellers and poets. A colonial man, Kipling drew influence from the Empire to write the children's classic The Jungle Book which has been successfully made into a Disney cartoon. Kipling will also be remembered for his amazing poetry, particularly the wonderfully poignant 'If'.
