This Second World War memorial has been installed in the side of the building which houses the Royal Mail West End Delivery Centre, the largest delivery office in the British Isles. The memorial commemorates the death of many postal workers during the War and was subscribed for and erected by their colleagues of the Western Postal District as a lasting tribute. Formerly situated within the precinct of the old Wimpole Street Post Office in 1920, the memorial was relocated to the present site in Rathbone Place in 1981.
