Site of Henry VIII’s Manor
Cheyne Mews, Chelsea, London SW3 - England, UK

Map
Long before Chelsea was just another suburb of London it was largely rural, a fine village on the edge of London. Henry VIII loved this place and had a large manor house built close to the river. There are several mulberry trees nearby that are reputed to have been planted by Elizabeth I. The manor was inhabited by the great philanthropist and son of Chelsea Hans Sloane for many years until 1763 when the manner burnt down.
