SPACE was founded in 1968 in order to provide affordable studios and an exhibition area for London based artists. The large complex currently provides studios for over six hundred artists, working on various contemporary art projects. Visitors are invited to browse the open studios and enjoy the regular exhibitions that are put on in the main gallery at the heart of the centre. The gallery works in partnership with various government social development programmes.
